Teknek has been attending Productronica since 1985. The biannual event has become the world’s leading trade fair for electronics development and production. Always held in Munich, this year’s exhibition was Teknek’s 18th Productronica. It is one of the stand out events in the Teknek exhibition calendar and is a favourite among the sales team, who take on average 25 enquiries per day. After the hard work is over, amongst their favourite places to visit in Munich are the Ratskeller and Hofbräuhaus.
EMEA Regional Sales Manager, Callum Campbell has attended every one of the eighteen exhibitions with Teknek. "Productronica is always a great show for us and one we look forward to. Being truly international we meet customers from all over the world and it’s a very intensive week of demonstrations and selling. And the selling doesn’t stop outwith the show hours, often meeting customers in the restaurants and bars around Munich. Even one time giving a Handroller product demo whilst sharing a taxi with some unknown people from the same hotel, who turned out to work for an Italian Copper Laminate manufacturer and bought a €50,000 machine as a result of the taxi demo."
A lot has changed over the last 35 years. During the early years, Teknek used to drive the equipment to the exhibition and build our own booth. The exhibition and Teknek’s focus has also shifted significantly. In the beginning, we focussed primarily on the PCB sector, however, as the electronics industry has developed, we have moved more into the SMT sector, as electronic assembly has moved towards zero defects and product miniaturisation.
The figures demonstrate the importance of attending the exhibition.
1,560 exhibitors from 43 countries
44,987 trade visitors from 96 countries
Approx. 3,400 forum attendees
58 % of International visitors
46 % of exhibitors from abroad
77 % of visitors have decision-making authority
According to the Productronica website, 60% of visitors are interested in the SMT sector, which was great news for Teknek. Teknek has often launched new products at the exhibition and this year, our latest innovation, the SMT-II (with low-static NT roller cleaning system) had its European launch, where it was in the running for the most innovative new product award.
